hp2xx software package provides HPGL converter into some vector- and raster formats, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hp2xx
hp2xx is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hp2xx package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hp2xx *
You will get with hp2xx package name, version, architecture and description in a table
